Dr. Adel Marei
Dr. Adel Marei, MD, is a neuropsychiatrist and internationally recognized expert in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). He earned his medical degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, in 2004, followed by a master’s degree in neuropsychiatry from the same institution in 2012. During his training, Dr. Marei was mentored by the late Prof. Dr. Tarek Asaad, a globally respected psychiatrist and sleep medicine specialist. His training encompassed a range of neurophysiological techniques, including EEG, polysomnography (PSG), and nerve conduction studies.
In 2012, Dr. Marei founded Brains’ Clinic, home to the first advanced TMS practice in private care in the region. Since then, he and his team have treated over 700 cases all around the world, addressing conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, negative symptoms of schizophrenia, catatonia, NMDA receptor encephalitis, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, chronic pain, post-stroke rehabilitation, and respiratory recovery. He has also trained approximately 800 medical professionals globally in TMS technology. Dr. Boris Kawisky of Florida has referred to Dr. Marei as the “godfather of modern TMS practices.”
Brains’ Clinic has developed more than 13 off-label TMS treatment protocols, with one of the most notable being a case involving carbon monoxide poisoning. This work led to his involvement with the Neurology Department at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in Manhattan, New York, where he worked from 2017 to 2021. He later joined MagVenture Inc. as an installer, trainer, and Medical Advisor.
Dr. Marei’s work is fueled by creativity and a wide-ranging background that includes roles as an editor, actor, marketer, and digital solutions expert. His favorite motto — a twist on the familiar — is: “The sky is NOT the limit.”
He has invented or developed several technological innovations, including:
-
A customized cooling system for TMS machines
-
A modified TMS device repurposed as a non-invasive mechanical ventilator
-
A space suit designed to slow bone degeneration in outer space
-
The Motor Cortex Finder, a device for MagVenture users that locates the motor hotspot in under 30 seconds
