- Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)
We are also able to administer SPRAVATO, an anti-depressant nasal spray.
Neuromodulation Therapies
Neuromodulation uses magnetic or electrical stimulation to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders by adjusting brain activity to relieve symptoms. At TMS Institute of Arizona, we offer a variety of non-invasive neuromodulation treatments.
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment for depression and other mood disorders, available at our Scottsdale office. Using magnetic pulses to stimulate targeted brain areas, TMS helps improve symptoms in patients who have not responded to traditional treatments. Our expert team provides a comfortable, personalized experience to support your mental health journey.
Express TMS offers shorter, high-frequency sessions, standard TMS follows traditional treatment protocols, and Accelerated TMS condenses multiple sessions into a shorter timeframe for faster results.
Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT) is a highly personalized form of TMS that uses brainwave analysis to tailor magnetic stimulation, optimizing brain function for improved mental health and cognitive performance.
Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)
Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) or transcranial electrical stimulation (TES) uses a low-intensity electric current to stimulate brain activity. It is safe, easy to use, and has minimal side effects.
Research suggests tDCS can be an effective alternative to medication, especially for those ineligible for TMS therapy or facing cost barriers. While not as strong as TMS, tDCS is portable, allowing for at-home maintenance after TMS or as a primary treatment for mild depression, ADHD, and cognitive issues.
It may also benefit individuals with Bipolar Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder.
Antidepressant
Spravato® (Nasal Inhaled Esketamine)
Spravato is the first FDA-approved nasal inhaled ketamine (Esketamine specifically) to help with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder with and without active suicidality. TMS Institute of Arizona is one of the few centers in the U.S. that offers Spravato, and both Dr. Ruchir P. Patel and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Sara Schrag are are qualified to administer the Spravato therapy.
